Portrait of Hannah

Hi, I'm Hannah.

writer · Tallinn · slow mornings

I write from a small flat above a bakery on the edge of Kalamaja, in Tallinn. I came here three years ago after burning out of a job in Helsinki that I had been quietly burning out of for about five years. The walk from Helsinki to Tallinn is the ferry. The walk from one kind of life to another took the better part of a year.

Whisper Mornings is the small journal I keep about how that year reshaped the way I start the day. It is not about productivity. It is not a "morning routine" in the way that phrase usually means. It is about the very small practices — a face massage, a jaw release, a slow tea — that I have found will hold up an entire day if you let them.

What I write about

  • Face and scalp massage as morning practice — gentle, slow, mostly with hands
  • The body parts we wake up last (and how to get them online sooner)
  • Small rituals around tea, light, and the first hour
  • The slow business of unlearning the morning of someone else's life

What I'm not

I'm not a massage therapist. I'm not a physiotherapist. I'm not a skincare expert. I'm someone who has spent three years trying small daily things on her own face and is writing down what worked. Anything you find here, you try at your own pace and on your own body.

The letter

I send a short letter on Friday mornings. A new piece, sometimes a ritual to try, sometimes a poem. Subscribe on the homepage. There is no series, no upsell. Just a Friday letter.

Writing to me

Email is best: [email protected]. I read everything, reply slowly, and keep the long ones in a folder.
